The people saying Mastodon is dead, dying, a ghost town, are the ones who have made little or no effort to join a community; instead expecting it to be a 100% Twitter clone.

After fourteen years on Twitter, I'm enjoying Mastodon more and more each day. I don't regret leaving Twitter at all.

I couldn't agree more, Andrew. Same here... over 14 years on Twitter and I deleted all my tweets, replies, retweets and likes this week.

Mastodon offers an amazingly engaging community and atmosphere I missed for so many years. It actually feels strange to go back to Twitter just to realize how toxic the discussion culture is over there.

I think a good way to understand EM is to read literature on toxic narcissists... and then his behavior doesn't seem so unpredictable.

I'm still grieving and processing the death of Twitter 1.0... loving Mastodon so far but alas, most of my favorite people haven't migrated over; they just stopped using Twitter. My hope is that we're all early adopters and eventually more women, POC, activists, journalists and institutions will join.

I'd suggest not giving a platform to Altman. He's a self-serving jerk.

I'm still waiting for a single article negative Mastodon article from an editor who's actually actively engaging with the platform and community. Just one!
