If Bluesky doesn't open up soon, it's going to go the way of Google+, which had serious momentum but because it was gatekeeped people couldn't join and when it finally opened up for all, no one cared anymore.
Bluesky is being too protective of its invites. It's time to open the gates, even if only a little bit.
That would be awesome. It would be nice to stop being a Musk hostage. I am on twitter since 2008; have 95K “followers”; I had meaningful relations and interactions; but the place is unbearable.
Kinda feel the same as Geoff (after sloughing off Instagram and realizing I don’t miss it at all), but alas, I’d kind of like to try BlueSky. We’ll see if I ever get high enough on the invite list. Long wait!
I have chased the alternatives, but alas, I keep fading away. Not even going to attempt Bluesky.

An open source protocol and non-profit entity even being mentioned in this ecosystem is exactly why the concept of decentralization is so valuable.
